We are back again, folks! Another wonderous NCAA Tournament awaits, and I am even a little more excited than last year. Sorta. Ohio State FINALLY fired Holtmann. However, we may have made a horrible decision by taking the Interim tag off of Jake Deibler and promoting him to Head Coach officially. I am not really a fan of this, but I guess we’ll see. I still miss Thad.

Ok, so again I did another quick crash-course about college basketball right before the tournament - because I am the quintessential 2024 basketball fan. Here are my takeaways of our faves and others:
Penn State - NOT in the tournament.
MSU - They’re in! It was close one there at the end, but Izzo’s tournament streak lives on. This team had sky high expectations to start the year, but did not live up to any of the good ones. I think they could at least make the Sweet 16 though.
Michigan - LMFAO
Ohio State - Ended the season on a rather good note, winning 5 of their final 6. Plus they played well in the B1G Tournament. So, they had at least one little glimmer of positivity just for it to maybe be snuffed out after today lol.
North Carolina - Not really sure, but they’re a 1 Seed so I’m sure they have been great all year.

Welcome back everyone! Another spectacular tournament is ahead of us! Although, this year is quite different than the past few. Or really, it’s the distillation of the previous few? The Holtmanning has been off the charts this year. Ohio State Basketball is the saddest it’s been since Thad was fired. And even then at least we were above .500. Pretty hilarious that this team almost made it to the tournament as a THIRTEEN seed in the Big Ten Tournament lmfao. Also bring back the Pinwheel you morons!!! The new logo is a plague upon our houses and our eyes.

All right, so I know this is normally when everyone decides to pay attention to basketball for the first time all year. Most years that’s fine because I can give a great rundown thanks to my college basketball podcast I listen to. But, alas, my favorite duo broke up like N’SYNC 😞. And right before the tournament too. RIP Titus & Tate. You will be missed. So, this year we’re flying blind folks!! Alabama is good I guess?? Houston is #1?? There are only TWO Big Ten teams ranked in the Top 25, and they’re both from Indiana. Go figure (Hoosiers sucks as a movie btw fight me).
Here are some quick (and probably wildly inaccurate) blurbs for our favorite teams!
Penn State was thiiiiiiiiiis close to winning the Big Ten Tournament. But, it’s a rule that Zach Edey doesn’t ever commit fouls. Never ever. Not even once. The Nittany Lions will be a fun team to watch in the tourney though.
MSU is very literally going to be the death of Tom Izzo. He needs to relax. But also his players seem to not listen to him anymore? Very odd. Nick can maybe shed some more light on this team but they seem pretty bad!! Therefore, they will make it to the Sweet 16 at the very least. Also, Tom call me I’m interested in that snazzy quarter zip.
Michigan will not be going dancing. Hunter Dickinson will be taking his mega cringe personality to the NIT. Fitting I know.
Ohio State straight up sucks big doody. Holtmann doesn’t know what defense is, but also somehow doesn’t know how to break a press. Would be cool to have Bronny on the team next year, but I need Chris outta here man. Where art thou, Thad?

March Chadness
Ah, March, the most wonderful time of the year. With the tournament about to commence, we're only weeks away from our real celebration, Kait’s birthday. I expect you all to act accordingly. I understand I wasn’t the first choice to write this intro, and that’s okay. Considering I likely watch the least amount of basketball in the group, I’m wondering how far down the roster Matthew really had to go for this. Nonetheless, put me in coach! I’m going to give it my best SHOT. Get it?
Gonzaga is a #1 seed, what’s new? Will Duke have a chance to take them out during Coach K’s last dance? Not if Tom Izzo has anything to say about it. The Spartans fought their way through much of the B1G tournament against formidable opponents. Can they continue the momentum? Stay calm and go green on.
Arizona’s back, post Sean Miller, and that kinda sucks because he was from my part of West Virginia. The Wildcats are looking good with longtime Gonzaga assistant behind the wheel. Speaking of wheels, there are definitely more doors in this world.
Ohio State comes out of the B1G tournament wounded. Really, Penn State? The team I wouldn’t go see even with a student discount? Hopefully the early upset is out of their system, and the Bucks are ready to play until the game is actually over. As they take on Sister Jean, the boys should remember you never let a woman finish first.
Michigan is an #11 seed and Indiana has a play-in. Make it make sense. I’d really like this explained to me by a U of M faithful. Does anyone have Chris Castellani’s number? Moving onto more B1G teams that I don’t care about, the Boilermakers Purdidn’t in the conference tourney but can they Purdue when it really matters? The Iowa Hawkeyes are your B1G tournament champs, and we can only hope they don’t embarrass us.
There are lots more teams that I know nothing about! After winning absolutely nothing during the football season, can I win the prize this time? Considering Bre smacked us all last year, anything is possible! Here’s to upsets galore, lots of Bud Light Hard Sodas, and crying yourself to sleep. Oh, that’s just me? Never mind... March Madness Opening Rounds Review
It’s March. It’s Madness. It’s MARCH MADNESS. Coming from someone who shits on basketball every other month of the year, I’m pretty hype. Even my “upset city” bracket wasn’t upsetting enough. We’re two rounds in, and to quickly recap: Jesus schools are good, the B1G is not, and Gonzaga is basketball god.
Only one team has been dunked on by COVID so far. And as we are trying to unsee the unspeakable things the Ducks did to the Hawkeyes, I think it’s fair for Jonny to stop bitching about the point he lost by picking VCU. Speaking of the B1G, let’s not. Our literal only hope is Michigan, official basketball school. To make matters worse, the Bucks got exposed, Bill Clinton style. But the Blowjob Bobs also took down Florida, so it’s less embarrassing I guess. Illinois lost to a 101 year old woman??? Rutger put up a valiant effort yet fell one letter short. Wisconsin did their best. Maryland was there.
Your standings so far:
Benj and Kevin are tied for 1st? What is this? band camp? These two are also in 3rd & 5th place, respectively. Just absolutely dominating. Benj is also the only person to pick an overall winner other than the Zags who is still in the tournament.
My upset brack is 2nd with a current max score of 80 so safe to say that’s as irrelevant as my bball analysis.
Threesome in 300 (Sully, Jonny, Kait) is tied for 6th + Albino Dad. Jolly group, just don’t tell Jim about that first part pls thx.
Moving onto 10th, Bre makes an appearance with an unfinished bracket I think?? Girl. She’s also in 13th though! Not too shabby for us making her do this last min.
#ForRocky taking the 11th spot. May he live forever in our hearts.
Christopher rolls in at 12th and 14th. With both of his Natty winners already out, he’ll probably be staying there awhile.
Jonny is also in 15th with a bracket currently holding the lowest possible points at 43. Dreamers dream.
Bringing us across the finish line is Matthew! He has managed to be even worse at this than the actual bets he makes up. His brackets round us out in last place and last last place.

March Madness
Welcome everyone to the debut of WTS BETSKETBALL!!
Our brackets have maaaaaybe a few more hours of remaining unbusted. Tonight is the “unofficial/official” start to the tournament with the First Four! Congratulations to MSU for trying their best to be neither a basketball nor football school. Still, a bid is a bid. They get to play another former powerhouse in UCLA for the honor of losing in the Round of 64! But as a former Spartan myself, I have them making a deep run in one of my brackets. So I hope they win a little. The Big Ten was exceptional this year, so they may surprise people.
As for the rest of the Big Ten, they are expected to fare much better! The Big Ten Champs finally secured a #1 Seed after a long hiatus, and hopefully they play better in the championship game this time around.
That’s right, Illinois is looking to reclaim their former glory. The end of 2005 was tough for them, but they have one of the best teams in the tournament and can make a deep run. Most people believe they can even win it all. Unfortunately, they are competing against the other Big Ten juggernaut this year.
Ohio State was a few shots away from claiming the Big Ten Tournament Crown, and is finally turning the page on flunking the last few minutes of each game. If Holtmann and company can play smart and aggressive in the final minutes like the do in the first 35, then the Buckeyes are in for a great time. Please someone remind EJ Liddell that he shouldn’t fumble the ball every possession with 2:30 left in the 2nd Half. You were 2x (!!!) Illinois Mr. Basketball for god’s sake. Let Duane get his shots up, drop 40 and raise that banner.
Looking at the rest of the field, nothing is certain. Hopefully we can see quite a few upsets (let’s go Colgate). Gonzaga looks crazy, Baylor is vulnerable on defense, and Alabama (??) is looking to be Florida of 2007. GOD DAMNIT WHY DID I BRING THAT UP GET OUT OF MY HEAD JOAKIM NOAH YOU GEICO CAVEMAN BITCH….ok I’m fine, it’s fine. They gave the MOP of that game to Corey Brewer because everyone else on the team was getting sonned by Greg Oden who finished with 25 points 12 Rebounds and 4 Blocks. But whatever.
Things are shaping up to be an exhilarating tournament. We’re finally back! For the first time since 2019, we have March Madness again! Get Gus Johnson on the call, your shredder on deck, and a good excuse as to why your work productivity went to zero for 2 weeks; It’s Tourney Time!!!
